Desire Pitch

Just read on the Desire thread at eharlequin that they're having another Desire pitch in June. I'm happy they gave us such a long lead time. I'll be culling through all my Desire ideas to pick the next one to work on for the pitch. Of course, that's after an Unsuitable gets completed.

My online crit partner, Jen Lewis, started her publishing career via the Desire online pitch a couple of years ago. Her books are excellent and I love reading them long before they hit the shelves.

I had a challenging writing week. I developed a migraine yesterday. The first in a long time. I used to take quite a lot of medication for them but have gradually cut out the prescription meds completely. I tried over the counter medication first, didn't make a dent. Finally had to drag the prescription out and take a couple of doses before it started to lessen enough for me to function. It might be the flu though because I'm still feeling bad today and my throat is a little sore. Sometimes that happens in the aftermath of a migraine - takes several days for the nausea to subside.

The MS stayed tucked away yesterday and today. I'll be working on it tomorrow morning if all goes well, though. Hopefully I'll be feeling like my energetic self.

Sorry you're not feeling well. :-( Hope you feel better soon!

And good news about Desire holding another pitch contest. That's really good news for anyone wanting to break into that line.

Ugh - hope you're feeling better Anne. I took a sick day yesterday and stayed home for some R&R.

Ug, a migraine. You poor thing. I used to get them all the time when I was growing up. I get them once in a while now, they're no fun at all.

Cool about the Desire pitch. June, huh? I wonder if that means they thought the pitch was a success or not. I still haven't finished the original book I started for last year's pitch. Maybe I should finish that one. LOL!

Still feel like crap. Weird.

Cat, I started An Unsuitable Mistress for the first Desire pitch thinking I could have the first draft completed in six week. Hahahahah....

I hope they do an updated Q&A. I'd like to know what the new Senior Editor is interested in seeing.

I talked to her at the PYHIAB conference. Didn't get much out of her. Sounded like business as usual, no changes coming.

Thanks for the info Cat. I'm going to relisten to the CD session from the Harlequin Spotlight, too.

Did you see they're doing a SSE pitch in March as well? It's an interesting new trend. Can't tell if it's working for them or not. I don't think they bought any of the Nocturne or Bites pitchers. And no one from the Desire pitch (???) that I've heard. I think the last Desire pitch they bought 4 of the 5? Or 3 of the 5. Maxine, Jennifer, Tessa for sure.

Yes, I saw they were doing a pitch for SSE. They don't seem to buy a lot of new authors for that line.
