Kids In The House

Aack! The kids are home and I'm trying to ignore them so I can get my Presents Synopsis written.

Spent this morning on the phone to Aliant trying to straighten out a problem with the internet that resulted from a call last night about access to web space. The good news is, while getting the internet fixed they also walked me through setting my laptop up on wireless. The bad news is, I now have wireless internet on the laptop distracting me from my writing and my kids now want to use it.

I wish I had more time with my Presents entry, I'm already seeing changes to the plot that would liven it up and make the conflict more believable. That's what I get for leaving it to the last couple of weeks. It will go as is unless I can make a few quick fixes tomorrow. No problem though, I'll rework the story if I don't final in the contest and make it stronger.

I do have to work on my habit of using cliche's - my characters catch their breath, gaze intensely and swallow past dry mouths several times a chapter. Surely, I can be more creative with my reactions?

The homework for my Tuesday class is completed and emailed to the teacher so I don't have to worry about that.

Ticking things off the to do list and feeling less stressed than last week.

Wireless access on the laptop is horrible. So distracting. Last week I was so mad at myself for getting distracted, I turned off the wireless thingy.

I laughed when I read the part about making changes to your Presents entry. I can't reread anything without making changes. It drives me crazy. That's why deadlines are good for me.

As for cliches, we all use them. It's good that you can find yours. They'll be that much easier to stop doing. Good luck with your synopsis. Trying to explain a book in 700 words is tough.

I hope you were able to get everything done, Anne. I'm so excited for you for sending this off. I have a good feeling about it!
