Finished my proposal for Desire. Decided to change the end of the first act - where the partial ends - to something that creates more conflict. I need my hero and heroine, who are clearly made for each other, to be on different pages. To want and expect conflicting things the day after their steamy night together. Of course, it means a rewrite of the next couple of chapters but my gut tells me it's a better direction. I'm printing it off for a final look before sending to critique partners to make sure it's as shiny as it can be.
I've been thinking about my next short contemporary. Something with traditional hooks - babies and billionaires - but with a twist. Not as easy as it sounds. Maybe I need to spend a day watching the daytime talk shows. Surely there's an interesting hook amongst all that dysfunction? Of course, you don't find too many billionaires on Morey.
Started Christmas shopping. A first for me. I don't usually start until after Dec 1st. On a strict budget so no last minute, I'm stuck just grab something too expensive so I can get out of this crowded, noisy - oh man I have a headache- store.

Love that idea for ramping up the tension at the end of your partial, Anne! Will be hoping for good things for you.
Ending the partial on just the right note is difficult, isn't it? I'm still first drafting on my NaNo Super, but have been planning the edits and fretting about ending chapter three right. The word count for Supers is back up to 70-75,000, and the twist I planned for about the 1/4 mark is going to be in chapter 4 not in my partial. *sigh*
I think I may have just figured out how to handle that problem. Okay, now all I need to do is write another 50,000 words of first draft and I can start editing!

So glad to hear you're ready to send that partial! I think a baby and billionaire book would be loads of fun to write. Those twists are not easy to come by, but you can do it!!
I love that you found a hook to end your partial with - and you sound so much more comfortable/happy with it compared to last week's post! Good luck with getting the subsequent chapters in shape for when the request for a full comes down the pipe :)
Not a Christmas shopper - we've streamlined our life so we don't buy into the craziness. And the nieces and nephews like the hard, cold cash I send (I have no idea what they want/have, so the money works for all parties).

I've been reading and enjoying a lot of Supers lately and I'm happy to see them go back to the old word count. I like the whole family/community/subplot. Good luck with yours.
Cat, I read a chat with one of the Desire editors and she said babies and billionaires sell. So I'm going to see what I can come up with.
Oh Janet, I think cash is the way to go, especially for teens. I'm into gift certificates and anything I can buy at a bookstore.Hope to have everyone but my girls bought for by the end of the month.
Those twists are hard to come by, aren't they? I think scanning the news might be a good idea - truth is stranger than fiction. Look back in history - you might find an old story that could play in a modern, updated setting. Great idea though--especially if the billionaire was a woman. Just a thought.
As for Christmas - heck no. Not even really started:)
