Savannah

Shattered takes place in Savannah. How does one set a book in a city you've never visited?

I borrowed a travel CD from the Library which is actually quite lovely but very odd. It makes all of the lovely Savannah sites seem quite boring - even the ghost walk is laughable rather than scary.

I've also borrowed Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Want to watch that tonight for inspiration. My Detective Hero has already veered off the straight and narrow and done a couple of not so legal maneuvers to try and get the goods on another crooked cop. And the jewelry heist that resulted in a hostage taking of our Hero and the heroine isn't what it seems.

Everyone has secrets.

A group of us, friends since grade school, will all be turning 50 next year. One of my friends wants us to go to Cuba to celebrate for a week - just the girls, minus the spouses and the kids. This friend of mine always does things in a BIG way - no simple spa day for her. During my teens, she was there for almost every wild and crazy thing I ever did - and she was right in front leading the pack. Anyway, wrapping this back around to the writing thread, Cuba's not a deal breaker, one of my other friends would rather go on a cruise. I was thinking it would be great if we all went to Savannah!!!

Research trip, celebrate 50 and spend a week with my girlfriends. What could be better?

Shattered is a great title. And I think a road trip to Savannah is a great idea. Never been there, but I hear it's beautiful.

Not to mention tax deductable! A group of friends I worked with at OYE that I'm still close to decided we were going to either Cuba or the DR in spring of 2009. I can't wait!

And I can't believe you're turning 50!! You make 50 look awesome, Anne!

Anne, Savannah is absolutely gorgeous. I go through there every year and can still lose myself there and also Charleston. Shattered is an awesome title.

Where did you get the widget that shows your story progression?

Great job on the weight loss. Inquiring minds want to know how you are doing it. :)

Anne-Marie!! So glad you came to visit.

The widget comes from http://www.zokutou.co.uk/wordmeter2. Let me know if you need instructions on how to use it for your blog.

And the weight loss is thanks to Weight Watchers and a gym.

I'm with Kelly - your 50 is the new 32.

Go, Anne, go on your Savannah story - has lots of secret-y goodness.

Kelly and Julia, you're good for this old lady's ego.

I've decided to embrace my age now that I'm about to turn a half century.

Oh that would be such a cool place to visit. And there's no way you're 50. Just not possible!
